Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha) Essential Oil for Aromatherapy
Myrrh Essentail Oil for Aromatherapy
This is a wonderful oil, with lots of ancient uses; the Romans used ointment of Myrrh on all their wounds.
This is the one to turn to if ever skin needs to heal, ie to prevent scarring of wounds.
I find Myrrh invaluable when I have a cold - simply mix 2 drops in vaseline.
I also add a few drops of this with Lavender to my face cream, it is particularly good for preventing wrinkles as it is so healing. I also find that when I am outside in the winter months it protects my skin from wind damage.
Myrrh is also very suited to winter ailments such as colds, coughs, bronchitis, catarrh, asthma and also has a drying effect on mucus. Use it in an oil burner or mix 2 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil and rub it onto the throat and chest.
If you suffer with sore throats, loss of voice or mouth ulcers then gargle with one drop of oil in a glass of water.
Myrrh is also good for fungal infections such as athlete's foot. Blend 2 - 3 drops with a carrier oil and use to massage the feet.
It is also a very useful oil for cleansing the womb, and is very effective for thrush and vaginal discharges and helps with scanty and painful menstruation.
