Sandalwood
This is a pale yellow viscous liquid with a deep, soft, sweet, woody balsamic scent.
It belnds well with Rose, Clove, Lavender, Black Pepper, Bergamot, Rosewood, Geranium, Benzoin, Vetivert, Patchouli, Myrrh and Jasmine. Its key qualities are as an aphrodisiac, soothing, relaxing, uplifting, purifying, warming and elevating oil and it acts as a sedative to the nervous system. It has antidepressant, antiseptic, astringent, bactericidal, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, insecticide and tonic actions.
It is good to use for general skin care or conditions such as acne, dry cracked or chapped skin and greasy skin. It can also help with respiratory conditions like bronchitis, catarrh, coughs (dry persistent), laryngitis and sore throats.
Sandalwood can also help with digestive problems, such as diarrhoea and nausea and can also help with heartburn when used in a massage base massaged into the chest area.
It also has properties that will help with cystitis.
The nervous system may also benefit from Sandalwood as it combats depression and insomnia. Stress and nervous tension are also helped.
